Chetola Resort

Chetola Resort is an awesome little getaway in Blowing Rock, North Carolina. It is filled with all sorts of cool things, they have a big pond as you drive in where you can fish or just sit and look at the trees and the ducks. They have a nice little cozy restaurant where you can grab a drink and some food and even spend the night above it at the bed and breakfast. There is also a lovely spa area, and indoor pool that is great for the family or a relaxing spot to unwind. Another new amenity that they have just revealed is there clay shooting course. It has 13 stations where you can shoot clay birds, or they also have one where you can just stay in one spot and fire off some rounds with your pals. They are even in the process of adding a place to have some adult beverages after you get done tearing up some sporting clays.

The real interesting thing about Chetola Resort to me was their social media marketing strategy, which we had the pleasure of hearing first hand from their head of marketing. He said that all of their social media posts are shaped to play on peoples emotions and tug on their heart strings. They try and capture the surroundings of Chetola, and the relaxing beauty of the resort its self. He found that traditional marketing strategies, like showing that the Carolina Panthers cheerleaders stayed at the resort did not work as well as something more personal like a picture of drops of rain on the lake.

At Chetola, he mentioned that they run a multitude of analytics on their social media as well, to see what kind of posts work the best and engage the most. Also they monitor the traffic of their website as well and randomly had a major spike on a random day in July and they were running analytics to figure out what they did correctly. I did however have one problem with the way they ran their marketing there. I found that they are so worried about just getting people to like their posts and get to their website, they werent even finding out where most people found out about Chetola. So I asked, and halfheartedly suggested that they ask customers when they check out where they heard about Chetola from and why they booked to stay their. Because to me, that is the most important thing about marketing, booking more customers.
